What is Therapy Like?
Face to Face or Online

First nerves

It’s only natural to feel nervous at first - I know and understand this

I often say to my clients that in some ways it can seem disconcerting to come and see a complete stranger and talk about things that feel very personal.

But most people tell me they feel very different at the end of the session from how they felt at the beginning - there is a sense of hope and a sense of relief.

On your side

Imagine what it would feel like to have a good and supportive person on your team

Somebody who is there for you, who gives you hope, walks at your speed, has time for you, accepts you, cheers you on, helps you work things out, celebrates your successes, laughs with you at a joke and is with you when you are sad.

That is how I see my role as a therapist.

You matter

You may have experienced an adverse event in your life or several of them

Loss, bereavement, trauma, illness, difficult parental or family relationships, intensely frightening experiences are all events that might leave you feeling distressed or anxious.

Sometimes it is difficult to know at first what may have effected us because our life is our only reality and we tend not to question it.

In it together

I will be with you each step of the way

My first task is to give you a sense of hope for a better future.

I will do my best to make you feel at ease and relaxed. I will help you identify all your strengths and the positive aspects of your life so that you begin to notice them too and start feeling better about yourself.
